Webflow

Visual web development platform combining design, CMS, and hosting without code

What It Does

Webflow is a visual web development platform that allows you to design, build, and launch responsive websites without writing code. It combines a powerful visual designer, a flexible content management system (CMS), and high-performance hosting into a single, integrated platform. In practice, it's what I use to build enterprise-grade marketing websites that marketing teams can actually manage themselves.

Why It Matters for Marketing Operations

For marketing operations, Webflow's primary value is speed and autonomy. It eliminates the dependency on engineering teams for web development, allowing marketing to build and launch campaigns, landing pages, and content hubs in days, not months. This directly impacts operational efficiency and accelerates pipeline growth by enabling rapid responses to market opportunities. In my experience across 50+ organizations, empowering the marketing team with a tool like Webflow is one of the fastest ways to increase marketing velocity and impact revenue.

How I Deploy It

I deploy Webflow as the core of a modern, composable marketing stack. For most client engagements, the main website and all campaign landing pages are built on Webflow for maximum design flexibility and performance. I connect Webflow's forms directly to HubSpot to ensure seamless lead capture and routing. For more complex data workflows, I use Segment to track user behavior on the Webflow site and pipe that data to a warehouse like BigQuery and other marketing tools. We often use n8n to create custom automations, such as syncing CMS content from other sources or triggering personalized follow-up sequences when a form is submitted.

When to Use It vs. Alternatives

Webflow is the right choice when design quality, marketing autonomy, and speed-to-market are critical. It's superior to WordPress for most marketing use cases because it avoids the bloat and security issues of a plugin-heavy ecosystem. While a fully headless setup with a CMS like Contentful and a framework like Next.js offers more architectural flexibility, it reintroduces developer dependency. For teams that need to move fast and own their web presence, Webflow is a more practical choice. Framer is a strong alternative for highly interactive sites but I find Webflow's CMS and overall platform more mature for content-driven marketing operations.

The Operator's Take

Webflow is the standard for any marketing team that needs to move faster than their engineering department. It's the difference between waiting in a developer's ticket queue and owning your pipeline. If you want to give your marketing team the power to execute, you give them Webflow.
